A training roadmap

Our academic programs provide training pathways to technical and clinical proficiency. Phased curricula start with an introduction to da Vinci surgical systems and core skill drills. Final phases include surgeon-led advanced training with intraoperative skills application. These programs provide an option to earn a Training Equivalency Certificate. In addition, learning at Intuitive is supported by technologies such as My Intuitive, dual da Vinci surgeon consoles, and immersive simulations with SimNow.

Academic solutions

Residents and fellows

Programs for residents and fellows include core technology training and certification, surgeon-led clinical skill series, self-guided training resources, and society-led fellowship programs. Explore our Intuitive Academy program.

Lead educators

If you’re a lead educator, faculty, or mentor, we can help you build a da Vinci system training roadmap for your students. Plan a curriculum based on a facilitator’s guide, curriculum templates, and a customizable, specialty-agnostic approach.

Academic executives and chairs

Executives and hospital administrations face specific challenges. Address specific challenges faced by executives and hospital administration. Join academic executive sessions showcasing strategies for robotic-assisted surgery program development spanning patient care, medical education, and research.

Early practice surgeons

Training on the use of da Vinci Systems doesn’t stop after a fellowship. Enhance your academic learning by completing a society-led course. This transition-to-practice program combines advanced training and peer-to-peer career guidance.

Data in your hand

Gain insight about your practice or program by accessing da Vinci surgical systems data through My Intuitive. With My Intuitive, you can set training goals, track your progress, and identify opportunities for improvement. For academic educators, My Intuitive can help you coordinate a robotics program and assist students through an easy-to-use dashboard.

Experience through simulation

SimNow is Intuitive's simulator for da Vinci surgical systems. Simulation exercises are woven into your training pathway with system skills practice, procedure training, and virtual reality experiences. SimNow has a growing library of realistic simulations and provides performance measurement and customizable curricula to track skills development.

Side-by-side mentorship

Da Vinci systems support a dual-console configuration, enabling side-by-side mentorship during procedures. Operating with a dual console provides shared training tools, including virtual pointers, give-and-take control functions, emergency stop safety features, and touch-enabled on-screen annotation capability.
